What are the OWSM sessions?

The OWSM sessions provide you with an opportunity for communication beyond the scientific community. It also helps to develop creativity, innovation and alternative ways of communication around your work. There will also be a prize for the best OWSM session, taking into account the scientific content and entertaining nature of the presentation. You are your oyster!!


OWSM sessions are Science Slam sessions specific to the One Welfare concept. In these sessions scientists explain their projects in short 8 minute talks ensuring that the content can be understood by non-scientist. The sessions must be presented in an entertaining way.

Is it mandatory to use the template or can we create our own?

You can use the template available on the website or you can use your own template if that is your preference.

Is it possible/allowed to copy an image/infographic into the template?.

Yes, it is allowed.

Can the template be adapted in any way?

You can modify the content to fit your content if you need to, except the conference logo, if included, should not be modified.

Can we use only 1 poster/slide or can we have more posters/slides per theme?

Only one poster can be presented for each communication (the slide is not really a slide, it is a poster in a PowerPoint template).

What does the presentation situation look like?

Participants can record their presentation themselves using their preferred software. Here you will find a video tutorial to help you.

How will the posters be presented? Just a Powerpoint slideshow?

Yes, just one image.

Will someone present the posters?

No. The posters will be available for viewing on the website throughout the conference and will remain there after the conference for a period of time to be decided by the organisers.

Will there be a guided space during the conference to see the posters?

The organizing committee is evaluating the idea of ​​a specific section for posters. You will be able to see it when the final program is published.

What should be the minimum font size (depends on whether participants can zoom in and out)?

Our recommendation is: Font size: Always greater than 16 pts for a correct visualization. Do not use a smaller font size (neither in graphs nor in their legends). Fonts: Use Arial, Tahoma, or Verdana. Background – Use a plain background and contrasting colors. A safe rule of thumb is to use black or very dark text on a light background.

Is a set amount of time spent on each poster or are participants free to spend as much time as they like reading the posters?

The posters can be viewed at all times, once they are published at the convenience of the participants
